Ice Cream Party and Photo Gallery
Thank you coaches, parents and swimmers for braving the 90+ temps to come out for another great swim meet! Unfortunately, despite strong swimming from our Waterstone kids, the Woodgate swimmers squeezed out a win. Congratulations Woodgate!
Don't forget... after each practice Wednesday evening, we'll pass out ribbons and indulge in ice cream sundaes. Each family should bring one topping and we'll provide the ice cream, bowls and spoons. Come join the fun!
Have you noticed the pictures appearing in our photo gallery? If not, make sure to check out over 200 photos from the last two meets. If you have some you'd like to post, send us and email and we'll get your great shots online!
Tuesday Meet against Woodgate
This afternoon we will be hosting Woodgate which promises to be another exciting meet. Swimmers need to arrive by 3:45 so they can begin warm-up's by 4:00. Please bring t-shirt, cap, goggles and sharpie markers. Our team will gather in the picnic area, leaving the north side of the pool deck available to our guest team. Parents, if you are scheduled to volunteer today, please be sure to check-in with Katie Baker by 4:30.
Also, please consider carpooling or another alternative to driving to the pool this evening. Parking is very limited when hosting another team. Thanks for your consideration. We'll see you at the pool.

Meet Today
We are swimming against Village of West Clay today. Even though storms are in the forecast, please plan on going to the pool. If weather dictates, we will make the call at the pool.
Swimmers should arrive by 4:15 so they are ready for warm-ups at 4:30. If you are scheduled to volunteer, please check in with Katie Baker by 4:30. Swimmers need their caps, goggles, t-shirts and a sharpie marker. You will find directions to the pool on the website under the meet maps link. There is considerable construction on that side of Carmel, so we have been advised to use the 116th route. Google maps will give that as one option. Upon arrival please park in the parking lot or along one side of the road. Similar to our pool drive, we need to keep one side clear for through traffic. Remember the host teams rely on concession sales to support their teams. Please consider purchasing from the full concession stand this evening.
Stroke Development Clinic Monday June 22nd
On Monday, June 22nd our 7-8 and 9+ morning practices will consist of a Stroke Development Clinic led by Carmel Swim Club Head Coach and Senior Coach Chris Plumb and Ian Murray. Additionally two Carmel National Team members will accompany them for a morning of stoke development. This is a HUGE opportunity to get highly technical training right at our own pool. Please plan on making this practice at regularly scheduled times Monday morning. This is definitely an opportunity you don't want to miss. Both coaches and the national team members will be available for questions during the 6 & under practice.

First Win/ Meet Sign-Up/Breakfast Practice
Congratulations swimmers and coaches on the first win of the season! Last night was a tough way to start our season, way to go!
Our next meet is tomorrow night at Village of West Clay and on Tuesday we are hosting Woodgate at home. If you are planning on swimming these meets, PLEASE make sure you have signed up for them. The sign-up book is at the pool and will be until after practice tonight. If your swimmer is not signed up, we will assume they are NOT swimming and not schedule them for any events. If you are unable to get to the pool, have a friend sign you up. This will eliminate all race day issues. Thank you.
Friday morning we will have our annual cereal breakfast practice. Each family should bring one box of cereal. After each swim practice swimmers can enjoy breakfast with teammates, collect their hard earned ribbons and celebrate the week's triumph's. We will provide bowls, spoons and milk.

Swim Meet Today
This afternoon we will be swimming against The Ponds. They typically run a fast efficient meet. Please plan on arriving on time and if you are volunteering, please make sure to check in with Katie Baker by 4:30. The Ponds offers a full concession stand, like ours, their proceeds go to supporting their program. Unfortunately they have had trouble with others not affiliated with the swim team, using events like today's meet as a means of profitability. We ask that if you are planning to purchase from the concession stand at today's meet, that you do so only at their designated stand, inside the pool area. Drink stations have been known to be set up outside of the pool area and those proceeds do NOT benefit the swim team or league. Thank you in advance for supporting the CISS league and our host team.

Tuesday Meet at The Ponds West
If you have not yet signed up for this meet or the meet with Village of West Clay on Thursday, you must do so by end of practice tonight. If you are night signed up, we will assume your swimmer(s) are not swimming and not schedule them for any events. The sign up sheets for all remaining meets, (except our make-up meet on July 9th) are available in the sign-up notebook. If you know your schedule for the rest of the season, it's a good idea to sign up for everything now instead of waiting to the last minute.
See you at The Ponds!!

First Official Meet/ Friday Practice Update
Well our first official meet was officially called off this afternoon due to stormy weather. This means we have now officially scheduled our "make-up" date of July 9th to host Brookshire. Thank you all who came out and worked hard only to wait around, get wet and leave again. Your help and patience, is most appreciated. Now that the meet has been called, the skies are clear and the sun is out, soooooo, practice is still on for tomorrow at regularly scheduled times.
Next Friday, June 19th we will have our breakfast cereal practice. Each family brings the breakfast cereal of their choice to practice. We provide milk, bowls, spoons and napkins. After each age group practice, the group can share in good food and celebration of the week's past meets.
Finally, for those interested in their times from the time trial earlier this week, those results have been posted under our results page. This is a fun way to see the progress of swimmers as they move throughout the season.

Thursday is our first official meet of the season and we'll be swimming against Brookshire. Swimmers need to be at the pool by 3:45, with warm-ups starting at 4:00 and the meet starting at 5:00. Swimmers will need their caps, goggles, t-shirts and a sharpie marker. Volunteers, please check in with Katie Baker by 4:30. If at all possible, try to carpool or bike to the pool, as parking becomes really tight when hosting another team.
Our team will gather in the picnic area allowing our guest team to gather on the north deck of the pool, near the mid size pool. Spectators, please plan on sitting on the south side of the pool. Meets against Brookshire promise to be filled with excitement and fun! See you at the pool!

Suit Exchange
Our first attempt at a suit exchange at the meet last night didn't fare too well. So if anyone has a gently used team suit they would like to sell, or is looking to purchase such a suit, please contact Anne Nichols with suit size and gender and we will get groups matched accordingly.
Wednesday Morning Practice
There is no thunder and lightning in the area however temps are cool. We will still plan on practicing depending on swimmer turn out. If you are planning on attending, please go to the pool where a call will be made before each practice time. Thanks!

Meet Sign-Up
In the upcoming week we will have our first time trial intrasquad meet and our first home meet against Brookshire. Our deadline for signing up for these two meets was Friday, June 5th. However, since we had such a rough time last week with weather and pool related cancellations, the sign-up has been extended through Monday, June 8th. The green sign-up binder is located on the sign-in table at the pool. It is marked on the cover, Waterstone Waves. This information is necessary in creating the heat sheets used for the meets. If you indicate your swimmer is a "yes", we will assume they will be there ready to swim at that designated meet. If you mark your swimmer a "no" we assume they will not be swimming. Future meet sign-up sheets will be available on Monday, if you know your schedule for the rest of the season, you can sign-up for all remaining meets. Thanks!

Thursday Evening Practice Update
Wear your tennis shoes tonight. Practice will be dry land exercises and activities led by our coaches on the pool deck. Dry land activities are a fun way for the coaches and swimmers to interact with one another while still getting in a workout.
Unfortunately, due to high levels of chlorine, the pool has been temporarily closed. We have however, been assured that it will be in proper working condition for tomorrow's morning practices. Thank you for your continued patience.

Wednesday Evening Practice Alert!
Believe it or not we had some very brave swimmers for morning practices this morning. The temps were cool and the rain steady. However, in addition to the inclimate weather today, other problems were brewing at the pool. The pumps have not been working correctly and therefore the water is not a clean as it needs to be. There are people currently working on fixing the situation, but the pool is not in useable condition this evening. We considered holding dry land practices, but with all the rain today, the area is pretty saturated. Therefore we are cancelling all practices tonight and will continue back on schedule tomorrow evening, hopefully with everything in working condition and good weather. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

Wednesday practice
Wednesday is slated to be cooler, however practice is still on. If it's too cool to swim, we'll have dry land activities.
Swim team and early summer weather......
We are finally underway and true to June in Indiana, our first day of practices have brought us a chilly morning start and afternoon thunderstorms. With weather changing by the minute, there really is no efficient way to notify people of sudden cancellations. Checking this website daily or subscribing to the RSS feed or email subscription will be your best bet. All swim team information and updates will be posted on this site.
As far as weather is concerned, if there is thunder and lightning at the time of a scheduled practice, the practice will be cancelled. Rain or cool temperatures? Grab tennis shoes and go to the pool. Depending on the temperature the coaches will determine whether to swim or have pool side activities which will still be beneficial and fun for the swimmers.
We have a great season ahead of us! See you at the pool!
